Sarkodie impregnated me, but I had to abort the baby- Yvonne Nelson Reveals in new book

Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson has recently released a book titled "I am not Yvonne Nelson," where she opens up about her past experiences. In the book, she reveals that she had a pregnancy that rapper Sarkodie was responsible for, and she had to make the difficult decision to terminate it.

Yvonne recounts the incident, which took place during a time when Sarkodie was still trying to establish himself in the music industry. She had gone for a pregnancy test accompanied by her friend Karen, and when the result was ready, Yvonne couldn't bring herself to open it. Karen opened it instead and exclaimed, "Charlie, it dey there!" This was not a matter to joke about; it was serious news that had the potential to disrupt Yvonne's life. She then reached out to the man whose child she was carrying, Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known as Sarkodie.

At the time, Sarkodie was an up-and-coming musician with immense potential for success in Ghana and beyond. However, his future appeared uncertain, and he was still dependent on his mother. Yvonne writes that he wasn't ready to take on the responsibility of fatherhood while he himself relied on his mother for support.

Yvonne admits that her relationship with Sarkodie wasn't a serious one. She had a fondness for people in the music industry, as music had been her solace during challenging times. She appreciated Sarkodie's talent, and they became close. However, the relationship lacked a strong commitment.

Sarkodie expressed his unwillingness to become a father, which presented Yvonne with a difficult choice. She had to consider her own life and the challenges she had faced growing up without a father. She questioned whether it was fair to bring another child into the world who would potentially face rejection, just as she had. Ultimately, she decided to have an abortion, believing it was a way to spare someone else the same trauma she had experienced.

Reflecting on her decision, Yvonne now realizes that it was one of the most regrettable mistakes of her life. If she could turn back time and speak to her younger self, she would choose to keep the baby.
